Title |
Mill Valley, Richardson Bay, and San Francisco |
Description |
Painting by Jack Wisby (1869-1940), depicting a view of Mill Valley, looking southeast toward Richardson Bay and San Francisco. Signed but not dated; probably 1910s or early 1920s. Oil on canvas, 19 1/2 x 39 1/2 inches. The frame has a brass plaque on the bottom of frame engraved with "In Memory of Doctor Max W. Bergan." The left foreground may show Ralston Avenue. A critic for the Mill Valley Record, writing in 1925, may have been referring to this painting when he described a work by Wisby "showing Mill Valley and the Bay in an exquisite mist, with the refracted rays of sunlight glinting through in a harmony of rare coloring." |
