Description |
A Mill Valley & Mt. Tamalpais Railway train and car, filled with passengers, crossing a trestle. The Mill Valley & Mt. Tamalpais Railway was the dream of Sidney Cushing. In the 1880s his father, Dr. John Cushing, had homesteaded in the Blithedale area of Mill Valley. Sidney Cushing formed a company to build a railway to the summit of Mount Tamalpais. The railroad was known as "the crookedest railroad in the world." It ran from 1896 to 1930. |
