Description |
Alto intersection before overpass was built, circa 1955. Photo shows Highway 101, with East Blithedale Avenue branching off toward the right and Tiburon Boulevard branching off to the left. The Strawberry Shopping Center would later be located in the upper left-hand corner and Enchanted Knolls in the lower right-hand corner on bare hills (1980). On the upper right is Shelter Ridge. Contour lines on hills at right are cow trails on dairy ranch grazing land. The homes on the left are part of Alto Sutton Manor and were built by several private contractors as individual homes and tract houses before and after World War II. |
