Description |
A portrait of Sam Newsom. Newsom, a renowned artist and landscaper, was 81 years old at the time of this photo. As a young man, he lived in Japan, immersed himself in the culture, and published several books related to Japanese gardens and bonsai. Newsom bought "the" barn in Mill Valley (32 Eugene Street) and hosted a Friday Night Art Group there for a decade. He and his wife operated "The Greenwood Tree" in Mill Valley. They lived in Mill Valley until 1975. |
