Description |
The ranch was located in Tiburon on road to town where Reed School and the tennis courts are now (as of 2010). First known as "Little Reed Ranch" it was later called Brazil Ranch (after Mary Brazil). Note included with photos: "Dear Lucretia, Here is your map and here are two more pictures of the dairy taken in either Dec. '48 or Jan. '49 and printed during the latter month. This was just before we bought the dairy. One picture shows the little house behind the hay barn, near the cypress tree. The other picture gives a good view of the calf pasture below the highway: the largest bldg. in this pasture area is the horse barn; the calf barn is to the left; beyond in the trees is the ranchhouse. (Mary's burned house is not visible.) On the other side of the road are, of course, the hay barn and milk house are the tool house, bunkhouses and misc. shelters for equipment. I believe Louise had a print made of the latter picture and found that the result was a general, unpleasant green. Might as a knowledgeable camera shop man what, if anything, can be done about obtaining a decent print from these primitive, colored-picture negatives. Or, perhaps, with the right equipment a good copy of the positive can be made if you're that much interested. Anyway, here they are. We'd like them back eventually. In the meantime, good luck in your venture! Beverly Bostick" |
