Description |
A woman in a coat and hat stands next to engine No. 7 of the Mt. Tamalpais & Muir Woods Railway outside the Tavern of Tamalpais. The Tavern of Tamalpais was a combination hotel and restaurant which opened in 1896, and was sometimes referred to as Summit Tavern or Tamalpais Tavern. The Tavern burned to the ground in a 1923 fire, but was rebuilt and reopened in 1924. The Tavern continued to operate until 1950, when it was razed by the Marin Municipal Water District. |
