Description |
Workers tearing up track and loading ties on a flat car pulled by a locomotive in the demolition of the Mount Tamalpais and Muir Woods Railway. The engineer stands next to the locomotive in the background at the left of the photo. The July fire of 1929, plus increasing automobile traffic, took their toll on the railway, which officially closed in 1930. |
