Description |
25 Cornwall. Caption from Walk into History 5/26/85 reads, "Marin Tax record shows 34 Eugene. To our left we can see the driveway and then the home of Harvey Klyce's contractor son, Melvin, and his family. Melvin was named after his father's friend, Captain Melvin Staples, whose house we will soon see. 25 Cornwall was built originally as a caretaker cottage in 1900 with board and batten siding and different roof lines. After Melvin and his bride moved in after their marriage, they enlarged and altered the house in 1929-30. It's entry was originally on Eugene. Melvin died in 1976 and the house was sold soon afterward. It was again renovated and remodeled in 1977-78 by Melvin's son, Albert Klyce. Newly planted landscaping makes it possible to see this originally obscured home." The color photo is mostly trees and brush, looking uphill to a barely visible house. |
