Description |
Cushing cottage at the corner of Cottage Ave. and W. Blithedale Ave., Mill Valley, CA. The cottage was originally built by Sidney Cushing in about 1895. He used it as a base during construction of the Mill Valley and Mount Tamalpais Scenic Railway. Years later, he expanded the home, adding several bedrooms and a bath (addition at upper left), and the Cushing family then used it as their Blithedale summer retreat. In about 1915, Grace Cushing made the cottage her year-round home. The building stands today at No. 1 Cottage Ave. |
