Editor's Note: The transcript of this interview differs from the audio interview. The transcript condenses and re-orders the interview. Kent and Elliott Seymour are twins, born July 10, 1902 in San Francisco. They were raised in Mill Valley, and have lived most of their lives in Mill Valley and Marin County. In the interview, they recount their school years in Mill Valley, and then their attendance at, and degrees from, the University of California at Berkeley. They recalled memories of Mill Valley from the early days, including their experiences with the 1906 earthquake, the streets of Mill Valley, the old railroad station and the trains in Marin. Kent became an insurance and real estate agent, opening an office in partnership with colleagues, married Helen Rosalie Close, and had three children. Elliott became an attorney, in his own practice, married Virginia Kerber, and spent several years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Both are retired as of the date of the interview. |
