Description Mill Valley Speical Police badge owned by Ivan Alan Carbine, known as "Red". Star shaped metal badge with the number 52 and the words "Mill Valley Special Police." Accompanying letter from Patty Bagshaw Simmons reads "In the 1920s all the police departments in each town in Marin County had a reciprocal agreement to assist each other when needed. Ivan Alan Carbine, commonly called "Red", was the police chief of Ross during that era. Red's badge, reading 'Mill Valley Special Police Badge 52' was to be won by him when he came to the aid of the Mill Valley Police." There are two stamps on the back; one reads "ARVINE & JACHERS S. F." and small round stamp reads "L.V.W.U. No. 70 Union Made."
